Course Aim

To enable the delegate to provide extended
lifesaving treatment at point of injury as part of
their responsibility and duty of care to injured
persons, until hand over within urban and
remote locations

Day One will be indoors in The Training Suite

Day Two will mainly be outdoors

  • Perform Basic Life Support procedures (BLS) Adult, Child and Drowning victims
  • Treatment of trauma, wounds, bleeds, shock, head chest, crush injuries, avulsions and amputations, including use of tourniquets and haemostatic agents
  • Identify and treatment of Extremity injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains including the use of splints
  • Recognition and treatment of extremes of body temperature; Heat exhaustion, Hyperthermia, Hypothermia, and effects of immersion and hydrostatic squeeze
  • Recognition and treatment of Bites, stings and water borne viruses
  • Packaging and preparing a casualty for helicopter evacuation
